Church of the Epiphany

At the center of our beliefs as Episcopalians are the following four tenants, adopted by the House of Bishops at the Chicago-Lambeth Quadrilateral in 1886.

  • The Holy Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments is the revealed Word of God.
  • The Nicene Creed is the sufficient statement of the Christian Faith.
  • The two sacraments of Baptism and Holy Eucharist, ministered with unfailing use of Christ’s words of institution and of the elements ordained by Him, are outward and visible signs of inward and spiritual grace.
  • The Historic episcopate, locally adapted in the methods of its administration to the varying needs of the nations and peoples called of God into the unity of His Church.

The Upper Room Thrift Shop

The Upper Room Thrift Shop is the outreach arm of the Episcopal Church of the Epiphany, 262 Main Street North, Southbury, CT.  It began in October of 1996 with the help of some parishioners from St. James’ Lutheran Church, Southbury.  Its goal remains the same:  to sell gently used clothing and merchandise and use the profits to help brothers and sisters in need.  All workers are volunteers and expenses are extremely minimal.  The shop remains in its original location, on the second floor of the parish hall.  It can be accessed through the side red doors, up the stairs.
