AARP Foundation Tax-Aide
AARP Tax-Aide volunteer counselors are trained and certified by the IRS to prepare and electronically file Federal and State individual income tax returns. This free assistance is offered to low-to-moderate income taxpayers, especially those 60 and older.
Alliance Française Of Northwestern Connecticut, Inc.
Since 1921, the Alliance Française of Northwestern Connecticut has provided a friendly atmosphere to learn and practice French language skills and gain a better understanding of the Francophone world. In addition to French classes for children and adults, programs include educational lectures, films, reading and conversation groups and holiday celebrations.
Alternatives to Violence Project (AVP)
The Alternatives to Violence Project (AVP) is a volunteer program dedicated to reducing violence in our society. Starting with one conflict resolution workshop in Dutchess County, NY in 1975, AVP has grown to a dynamic worldwide program. AVP provides workshops for community groups and prison inmates. We are seeking people who want to become workshop facilitators.

American Legion Post #204
Post 204 has over 75 former service men and women, most of whom live in Heritage Village. Meetings are held on the second Thursday of every month, at 1500 in the Music Room at the historic Victor Borge Meeting House. Always an interesting program; veteran's benefits flyers passed-out monthly.
American Red Cross
The American Red Cross exists to provide compassionate care to those in need. Our network of generous donors, volunteers and employees share a mission of preventing and relieving suffering, here at home and around the world, through five key service areas: Disaster Relief, Supporting America's Military Families, Lifesaving Blood, Health and Safety Services, and International Services.
Audubon Center Bent of the River
The Audubon Center at Bent of the River (BOTR) is owned and operated by Audubon Connecticut and the National Audubon Society. BOTR is a 700-acre sanctuary, and visitor center that provides a wide variety of conservation programs and activities throughout northwestern and central Connecticut.
Bullet Hill School
Bullet Hill School is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and is the oldest public building in the town of Southbury. Docents are needed to help local 2nd graders on their annual Living History field trip by presenting a brief history and quick tour of the building.
C.A.R.E.S. Hope and Support Group
The C.A.R.E.S. Group offers free, weekly support groups that provide ongoing education, support services, and treatment resources for parents, families, and community members addressing issues related to substance abuse and addiction. Southbury Chapter meets every Wednesday.
College Access For All Kids, Inc.
Our mission is to provide access to colleges, universities and other higher education possibilities to urban youth. Often times, students do not see the possibility of attending a higher education facility because they have not visited nor had the opportunity to visit a campus or school with someone else.
Companion Pet Rescue
CPR’s mission is rescuing & rehoming abandoned and neglected dogs. In addition to to rescuing & rehoming dogs, we promote our own spay/neuter outreach program that allows us to assist families that need this service but can’t afford it.
CT Volunteer Services for the Blind & Handicapped, Inc.
CVSBH Inc., “Talking Books CT” is an all-volunteer non-profit agency that records books for the visually and physically impaired. The Connecticut State Library for the Blind and Physically Handicapped, and the National Library Service distribute the recordings and playback devices to qualified patrons free of charge.

Ladies' Auxiliary of the Southbury Volunteer Firemen's Association
The Ladies Auxiliary has been proud to support the town of Southbury and its volunteer firefighters for the past 59 years. Auxiliary members host Town Wide Tag Sales, sell flowers at the Mother’s Day Plant Sale, hand out smoke detector batteries at Southbury Celebration, and hand out Halloween candy at the Annual Trick-or-Treat Spooktacular.
Maddie's Herd
Maddie's Herd is dedicated to increasing awareness and powering research that improves the lives of those living with Primary Immunodeficiency Diseases; especially kids like Maddie. We work to empower pediatric patients, share education and host FUNdraising events that support The Hole in the Wall Gang Camp and the Immune Deficiency Foundation.

SGC meets for programs about gardening, horticulture, floral design and environmental topics. Members participate in civic activities including: an award winning garden at the Pool House; holiday decorations for town buildings; therapy baskets for Safe Haven; grow produce for Southbury Food Bank; present scholarship to a Southbury resident, award landscape certificates to local merchants.

Volunteers are vital to the Southbury Historical Society’s overall functioning and mission. Throughout the year the Society holds a series of programs and special events, which rely on volunteers. Programs include special exhibitions, lectures, period and military reenactments, tours and fundraisers.

The mission of the Southbury Land Trust is to preserve farmland, open spaces and other natural resources for the benefit of present and future residents of Southbury.
Southbury Needy Fund
The Southbury Needy Fund provides clothing, books, and toys for children of families identified by Social Services during the holiday season. It also provides tuition for local children to attend the P&R camp and pays for some field trips. It is also called upon in emergency situations to provide shelter or essentials to displaced families.

The Home & School Association of Southbury Training School advocates for the individuals who live at Southbury Training School, and funds many life-enhancing activities for the residents on grounds.

The Southbury Volunteer Firemen's Association provides fire and emergency services to our neighbors in need. Since 1932, our 24/7 essential service is performed by dedicated male and female volunteers of all ages. SWC was founded in 2001 by a group of diverse, committed women to serve our local community and improve the lives of those in need. We sponsor several fundraising events and activities throughout the year, such as the CT Arts & Eats, Operation Backpack, and Turkey Trot.

The Southbury Senior Alliance
Stakeholders and service providers to Southbury seniors meet monthly to identify and collaborate to address senior needs within Southbury. Members have committed to collaboration and support of senior related projects, education, advocacy and fundraising to support said projects. Meetings are open to the public. All activities are intended to strengthen the mission of the organization and its support of the Southbury senior population.
The Southbury Senior Alliance’s mission is to act as a larger, organized and representative group with the intent to capitalize on all strengths of those involved to create a strong and active organization, whose focus is to represent, advocate and set strategic goals for our older residents while representing the cross-section of our senior population in Southbury.

Rotary is a global non-profit organization founded by Paul Harris in Chicago in 1905. Today, Rotary is represented in 200 countries, 30,000 clubs and 1.2 million Rotarians. Rotarians are a diverse group of business professionals having a common desire to provide service to others.
Troop 1607 Scouts BSA
Troop 1607 Southbury meets at the VFW Post at 150 Lee Farm Drive, Southbury, on Mondays at 7pm-8:30pm. The troop loves the outdoors, camping, service, leadership, teamwork, high adventure, and visiting a different summer camp each year! For 5th Grade to 17 year olds.
Upper Room Thrift Shop at Episcopal Church of the Epiphany
The Upper Room re-cycles gently used clothing, household items, books, jewelry (no large furniture, exercise equipment or computers). The proceeds are donated to local groups such as Pierce Hollow Village, Food Bank, and Fuel Bank. We also support places such as Homes for Troops. Hours Tuesday and Saturday 10am-2pm.
Whiskers Pet Rescue
Whiskers Pet Rescue is a no-kill animal rescue organization made up entirely of volunteers committed to helping and caring for animals who have been abandoned, injured, abused, or neglected. We rescue and adopt out hundreds of pets each year, placing them in loving forever homes.
Veterans of Foreign Wars
We are a group of veterans who want to volunteer to continue to serve our Country and do Community Service. We promote Patriotism in Town and have our educational programs in the school system.
