Gunn Historical Museum Presents the Weaver, Ellen Goldman

Please join the Gunn Historical Museum, and the weaver Ellen Goldman, at the Washington Town Party at the Spring Hill Arts Gathering at 292 Bee Brook Road in Washington, Connecticut from 1:00pm to 4:00pm on Sunday August 8, 2021. Admission is free.

In the spirit of preserving our region’s history, the Gunn Historical Museum in Washington, CT is pleased to present Ellen Goldman, an enthusiastic weaver who enjoys sharing her love of weaving with others. Weaving is one of the oldest surviving art forms on the planet, and Ellen will perform her craft on a floor loom and discuss the basics of weaving, as well as more complicated techniques.

Ellen Goldman has taught weaving and crafts to children and basic weaving to adults. She has traveled to Guatemala, Peru, and Mexico to study weaving and natural fiber dyeing. Ellen is an active member of The Handweavers Guild of Connecticut.

The Gunn Historical Museum presents an ever-changing view of local history in one of the most beautiful locations in Connecticut. The museum is located in a 1781 residence overlooking the historic Washington Green in Litchfield County and features a national award-winning, long-term exhibit about the history of Washington. Come step into the world that was and see it through the images, artifacts and stories of the many people, great and ordinary, who have made and make our town a memorable place.
