Impressionism Workshop

In this full-day workshop, students of oil paint or acrylics will create three pieces of art and capture the spirit of impressionism painting.
Originating in France in the 1860s, impressionism focused on depicting the visual impression of the moment. Set up an impressionist’s palette and complete two small paintings in the morning. Then in the afternoon, select an impressionist painting and use it for inspiration to create a piece on a larger canvas.
Bring your own supplies (oil or acrylic paints, brushes, canvases, palette), lunch, and dive into impressionism painting!
Roberta Shea is a Newtown painter known for her highly-textured vibrant paintings of the natural world. Her abstract paintings are about the physical process of painting inspired by Impressionism and Abstract Expressionism.
Roberta studied at Southern Connecticut State University, Creative Arts Workshop, Washington Arts Association, and Society of Creative Arts in Newtown. She has taught art at Masuk High School, adult education and afterschool programs and conducted tours at the New Britain Museum of American Art.
She has exhibited locally in Connecticut, New York, and New Hampshire and is represented by Gallery 21 at Arts Escape.
